Farms and livestock premises present special challenges for access-control security. Gateways are often located far away from the farm's main buildings. Pulling Ethernet communication cables across large farm ground is costly, time-consuming and vulnerable to damage from farming machinery and livestock activities. More and more security integrator adopt 4G cellular wireless intercom as the preferred solution for agricultural-site gate visitor management. This article shares practical deployment advice from real-world farm project experience, based on our commercial-grade 4G wireless doorbell intercom unit.
Typical farm-gate scenarios require solving four major demands:
1.Visitor screening: delivery drivers, feed suppliers and repair contractors arrive at the outer gate. Farm managers are often working out in the fields instead of staying in the office. They need to answer visitor calls via mobile phone remotely.
2.Multi-group access permission management: permanent farm staff, regular suppliers and temporary contractors need differentiated unlock credentials (RFID card, permanent password or time-limited temporary password).
3.Event monitoring: capture movement at the main gate and receive alerts for unknown persons or vehicles approaching the gate outside working hours.
4.High environmental adaptability: the outdoor unit must resist wide temperature fluctuation, dust and humidity of the agricultural environment.
5.Why Our 4G Wireless Intercom Fits Farm-Gate Projects:
The DZ-3427C0 4G wireless doorbell addresses the above requirements with hardware and software features designed for field deployment.
6.No LAN cable required: only DC 12-15V power supply for the outdoor station. Video intercom and remote unlock work over the 4G SIM-card cellular network.
7.AI smart detection: human, vehicle and parcel detection push real-time event notifications to the Tuya app, so farm operators know gate-side activities even without a visitor pressing the doorbell button. Starlight night vision ensures monitoring after sunset.
8.Diversified credential management: up to 250 groups of user passwords with scheduled temporary passwords for short-term contractors; RFID card capacity up to 1000 cards for staff long-term access; call-forward to 5 configurable phone numbers, so if the farm manager does not pick up, the system automatically dials the next responsible staff number.
9.Dual relay output: control the main farm gate and a secondary side door separately. Adjust the unlock hold time from 01-99 seconds to match gate-mechanical speed.
10.Wide working temperature range -20℃ ~ +65℃ for all-season outdoor operation.
Select an IoT SIM card supporting both voice call and SMS function. A pure-data-only SIM cannot support call-forward and SMS-unlock features. Mount the 4G antenna away from metal gate frames and large metal machinery, which will shield the cellular signal and cause unstable network registration. If the signal is weak at the gate location, re-locate the antenna to a better-signal spot with an extension antenna cable.
1.Permanent farm employees: assign RFID cards or fixed user passwords.
2.Regular feed/material suppliers: use scheduled time-limited passwords valid only during business hours.
3.Short-term contractors: generate a one-time temporary password via SMS command for a single-visit access.
4.Assign 2-3 farm managers' mobile numbers to the call-forward list. If the first manager misses a visitor call, the system dials the next contact automatically.
Integrators can export all user passwords and the authorized phone list onto an SD card as a TXT file, saving a backup copy for farm-site maintenance. When a device needs replacement, import the modified TXT file via SD card (power-cycle required for import) and avoid manually re-inputting hundreds of credentials one by one.
If the administrator password is lost, use the SW3 hardware reset button on the device's rear side. Remind the farm owner that a hardware factory reset clears all saved cards, passwords and phone numbers, so back up data before performing a full reset. The partial reset command can recover the audio volume and admin password without erasing user credentials.
One livestock farm installed this 4G intercom on its outer main gate. Before deployment, there was no internet cable at the gate location. After installation: when suppliers arrive, the visitor call is sent to farm managers' mobile phones; temporary passwords are generated for seasonal workers; AI detection sends alerts when vehicles or people approach the gate after working hours; and local RFID card and password access keep working even during temporary cellular-signal drops.
A: Yes. The device enters access-control-only offline mode. RFID-card, password and exit-button unlock keep fully functional for on-site staff. Remote app/SMS unlock functions suspend until the cellular signal recovers.
A: Yes. Scheduled/time-restricted temporary passwords are supported via keypad setting or SMS remote command.
A: The hardware input requirement is DC 12-15V. It can work with a solar power system as long as the stable DC power output meets the specification. The solar panel and battery set are not included as standard accessories.
